What Causes a Kundalini Awakening?
There is no single answer for what causes a kundalini awakening. As with many aspects of deep spiritual life and enlightenment, a kundalini awakening is brought about through a process as individual as each practitioner. For some, it comes from years of cultivating their spiritual practice, kundalini yoga, meditation, and a variety of other methods of self-realization.
What is a Kundalini Awakening?
Kundalini means “coiled” in Sanskrit. Tantra teaches that kundalini energy rests coiled at the base of the spine like a serpent. When a person reaches a state of spiritual balance where the dormant energy flows freely up through the seven chakras, they can achieve the expanded state of consciousness known as a kundalini awakening.
The Seven chakras
There are seven chakras along your spine, each serving as an energy center in your body. The process of spiritual enlightenment will help you unblock each chakra as you work toward true balance.
Root chakra (Muladhara)
This chakra is at the base of your spine and serves as the foundation for life. It helps you withstand life’s challenges and feel grounded. Your root chakra provides your sense of stability and security.
Sacral chakra (Svadhisthana)
Your sacral chakra is located just below your belly button and is responsible for sexual and creative energy. This chakra links to how you relate to emotions—yours and others.
Solar plexus chakra (Manipura)
Your stomach area houses your solar plexus chakra. Your self-esteem, confidence, and the feeling of being in control of your life come from this chakra.
Heart chakra (Anahata)
The center of your chest is the location of your heart chakra. It is responsible for your ability to love and show compassion.
Throat chakra (Vishuddha)
As the name suggests, this chakra is in your throat. It affects your ability to communicate verbally.
Third Eye chakra (Ajna)
Your third eye chakra is between your eyes. This chakra is where your intuition comes from, along with your imagination.
Crown chakra (Sahasrara)
This chakra is at the top of your head. It represents your spiritual connection to yourself, others, and the universe and is part of your life’s purpose.
If the energy in one of your chakras is low, you may experience trouble expressing the qualities associated with that chakra. However, in an overactive chakra, those same qualities will become dominant in your life.
In addition to regularly practicing yoga postures, living a spiritual lifestyle, using breathing practices to encourage the flow of energy, and meditating often, there are many ways to unblock your chakras.
We don’t live in a vacuum, and how you relate to others in your life matters. Face the fear of vulnerability in relationships. To make a truly meaningful connection with another person, you must offer your partner the truest version of yourself. Practice gratitude and live with an open heart. Once you overcome the fear of vulnerability in relationships, you will be one step closer to the enlightenment necessary for your kundalini awakening.
There is no one path to a kundalini awakening. It is as individual as you are and as unique as your life experiences. We will help guide you along the path to letting go of the fear of vulnerability in relationships, becoming your truest self, unblocking your chakras, and working toward the spiritual enlightenment of a kundalini awakening.
